City of Ringgold
The Old Stone Museum Church, built around 1849, is where the famous gospel hymn "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" was first performed. Used at one time as a Civil War hospital, the church has since been restored and houses a Civil War Museum.
According to 2000 Census, the City of Ringgold had a population of 2,422 persons. Between 1990 and 2000, the city experienced a population increase of 44.6%, compared to the state growth during this period of 26.4%.
